I will continue to update this blog for the next few days. But my new website, blog and shop will now be at any of these links!!!!!
Araha Beach on Wood, 10″x5″ 2014
So about a year ago I began talking to a man named Adam. Our romance started through photographs. We wrote novels and novels to each other. About a couple months into this I began to paint again 🙂
Here are my first true landscapes…
I gave these to him for his birthday 🙂
Shortly after…. he came to Knoxville to visit. I painted his portrait. It was the most nerve wracking portrait I have ever painted and I have painted a lot of portraits. I felt a mixture of total ease and total nervousness with this wonderful man.
In less than 6 weeks I will marry him. He drives me crazy but I love it. He challenges me everyday even from the other side of the world.
We will reach valleys, mountains and so many obstacles, but we will do it together. And I can’t wait for our journey.
Thanks for the inspiration 🙂
I’ll be updating the site with my latest painting projects. STAY TUNED!
The above paintings bring me into Spring Break.
And off to Portland and San Francisco.
The past week I’ve been regretting my decision to go away for Spring Break. It has been slightly chaotic around here. But I think leaving Knoxville was the motivation I needed to get moving fast on my painting. I’ve haven’t enjoyed painting in so long. This is a break through to something worthwhile. I’m not sure my Grad Thesis show will be anything amazing but I know it will be great documentation of a significant turning point in my life.
One of Many, (painting of Will with addition of color-bars)
Must keep writing.
See you all at the show in 6 weeks.
APRIL 21st 6-9pm Ewing Gallery, A&A building, Knoxville, TN
The SUMmer has been officially over for awhile and I feel like I experienced a good amount of things. This summer really did kick last summer’s bum. I took a much needed break from the cyber world and my MacBook…I think this is an important thing for all of us to do.
Here is what I learned…(*pull up soapbox now*)
IT FEELS GOOD TO LET THINGS GO
IGNORANCE IS BLISS
(listen when you are invited to ride 50 miles to go camping…listen when they invite you to ride YOUR BIKE 50 miles to go camping. oh. and don’t forget you will have to ride your bike all the way back.)
SOMETIMES YOU DESERVE A BEER
(this doesn’t happen very often…but when it does…the beer tastes better)
BIKES AND FOURTH OF JULY GO HAND IN HAND
(especially when you see 5 grown men on a bike all at the same time.)
YOU MUST GET THROUGH WHAT IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU BEFORE YOU CAN MOVE ON TO THE NEXT THING.
( I tend to get ahead of myself)
AND BATHROOMS ARE CREEPY AT NIGHT.
( even though you’re in a national park)
Now I’m ready for the Fall.
He enters the studio in the afternoon. He’s late again. He kicks himself for not getting there earlier. He paces between the walls of the room. He sits.
He puts on music.
He hates that they are called explosions. He also accepts it.
He squeezes out colors. He mixes them together in a plastic cup. He holds the orange next to the pink. He watches as someone enters his space. He asks her opinion. He laughs at her joke. He makes a joke. He isn’t satisfied with her answer. He wishes she would say what she’s really thinking. He’s also glad she didn’t. He watches her leave. He yells at her over the wall. He gathers wood. He chops them into smaller random pieces. He carries them back to his space. He sprays paint on them. He hopes no one will notice the smell. He stands. He puts his hands on his hips. He sings. He hears some giggling from the other side of the wall. He keeps singing. He walks to the largest “explosion.” He makes orange dots. He makes small dots. He makes large dots. He makes more dots. He stops.
He goes into her space. He asks her to come look. He needs a second opinion. He really needs affirmation. He will probably do what he wants anyway. He offers her a slice of grapefruit. He tells her a story. He tells her a funny story. He listens to her talk. He feels like she is distracted. He likes her advice. He watches her leave. He watches as she trips over his phone cord. He scolds her. He’s just poking fun. He walks back to the “explosion.”
He starts to tape. He thinks about what these “explosions” mean. He thinks about beer. He thinks about the conversation he had last night. He hopes he wasn’t a jerk. He rethinks over what he said. He thinks about it for a while.
He tapes more. He tacks up paper across the room.
He reads. He writes. He reads. He writes. He loves this guys work. He feels as if he’s doing exactly what he wants to be doing. He writes more. He feels like he “gets it.”
He asks her “what time is it?” He doesn’t like the response. He watches as she packs up her things. He packs up his. He tells her they should all go get beers after this.
Just took a mini-mester class. An early birthday present from my parents…who payed my fees for the class. Which slightly makes me feel like a dork.
an early example. vvvvv
So…the class was great. It was a MONOPRINT class.
more examples. vvvvv
“the wild”It was held… 6 hours a day. 5 days a week. 3 weeks. and many nights in between…in the good ole’ print shop.
I really don’t know why I didn’t make monoprints before? This really alludes me.
